Reverend Guido Braun puts all his heart and soul in his sermons and thanks to his open-mindedness towards the secular aspects of life he is very popular with his flock. In addition to his distinctive sense of humour and his predilection for delicious food one of his salient characteristics is his unparalleled good nose for criminal cases. The police appreciate the amateur sleuth who is so well versed in the Bible. Reverend Braun, however, drives his superior Bishop Hemmelrath to despair. The latter cannot tolerate the Reverend's extraordinary risking to bring the Church into disrepute. Bishop Hemmelrath thus "exiles" Reverend Braun, including his sixth sense, to a country setting and hopes to finally have found for Braun a zone free of crime - what a pious wish!
